Bonus Round 1

Hey, Team Old Spice! So there's a lot of hustle and bustle going on in the HSO right now, so I'd like to address some news first! Main Round 1 is still ongoing, so I hope everyone who plans on submitting something for the round is working hard! Feel free to post any WIPs or ask questions or what-have-you. Achembee has a lovely WIP up on our post that you all should check out, and I hope to have the fic I've been working on for the prompt later tonight or tomorrow, and I'm a little hesitant about it, so keep an eye out for that, I could def use some pointers! I'd like to remind everyone that there are 13 days left in the Main Round 1 challenge. If you plan on submitting something for consideration for entry, I would love it if you could do so by 11:59 PM June 20th (but if you still need an extra day or two, that is fine too, just keep me posted!) That way, we have the 21st and the 22nd to discuss which entry we want to submit to represent Team Bro<3Dad, so that I can submit it to the HSO mods on the 23rd, which is the final due date for Main Round 1! Lastly, I'm sad to say that I have been unable to get a hold of Syd/waffled on Tumblr or on Skype, and they failed to check in or join the comm by the cut-off date, so I'm afraid we have another absent member. I'm not sure if this means that we might be getting another member to add to the motley crew of the Old Spice Ship, but I will let you know as soon as I find out!

So. Bonus Round 1: Genre-mixing! This is another fun little mini-round that gives us a chance to work on things focusing on other ships besides our beloved Bro<3Dad. It is not required to participate, but it is an excellent way to earn more points, and it really challenges you to think creatively! Details on the round are here, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

So what can you do for Team BroDad? Well...

1. You can get your noggin working and post a prompt for 5 points -- pick any ship that you like, and challenge someone to make a fill for it incorporating any two genres. This can be anything from steampunk to horror to high school drama to literally anything you can think of! 
2. You can fill a prompt and earn us anywhere from 30 to 5 points! The points are based on how many other people have filled that prompt, so if you find a brilliant prompt that nobody else has filled yet, go for it! Browse through the prompts that have been posted already until you find a genre combination that intrigues you or a ship that you'd be interested in doing something for, and have at it. The sky is the limit -- you can write a drabble incorporating those elements, or you could draw a movie-style poster, or you could cosplay as the characters in a dramatically different genre... anything goes! However, you cannot fill a prompt for Bro<3Dad, nor can you fill a prompt made by a teammate.

Collaborative Round!

This is essentially the final round of the HSO, where our entry is due by August 4th. That is a long ways off, but that just means that we have a lengthy span of time to all work together as a team to create something truly out of! The goal of this round is hopefully for everybody to pitch in some way, be it through brainstorming, writing, drawing, assembling, anything at all! We need at least three active participants for our entry to be considered valid, but I hope all of you will pitch in so we can come up with something amazing to show how perfect our ship is! (Because let's face, we've got one of the best ships out there. You really can't go wrong with Bro Strider and Dad Egbert, especially not when they're together.)

The prompt for this round is Aberration -- a break in the pattern or a deviation from the norm. It is purposefully vague, so we can interpret it literally any way that we want, which I know sounds a little intimidating at first! I for one am intrigued by the definition "a state of abnormality," because I think that that applies so well to both of these characters, with their eccentricities... but I'll save those musings for the comment section, where we can all come up with ideas for how we choose to interpret it!

Now, there is no media requirement for this particular round, so the sky is truly the limit! By the end of June, I'd like to have an idea of a.) Who plans on contributing, b.) How we intend on interpreting the prompt, and c.) Who is doing what for the prompt. By early July, we ought to really get cracking, so we have the entire month to work on our final entry for the HSO and put together something spectacular! For starters, I figured we ought to put our heads together and toss out some initial ideas -- how we want to interpret this prompt, what an aberration could mean in the context of our ship, how we can pool together our many stunning talents, and so on. What do you guys think?
